FAQ

Ceramic Coating or PPF: Which Do You Need?

They solve different problems. Film stops rock chips. A coating adds gloss and makes the vehicle much easier to keep clean. Many owners do both.

Side by Side

  • Rock chips: film stops them, a coating does not
  • Gloss and slickness: a coating adds both, film is clear
  • Easy washing: a coating makes dirt, salt and water slide off
  • Coverage: a coating usually goes on the whole vehicle, film usually on the front end
  • Price: coatings start at $599, film is quoted by coverage

The Common Combination

The most popular setup is film on the high-impact front end and a ceramic coating over the rest of the vehicle, and over the film too. You get chip protection where the gravel hits and easy washing everywhere.

If You Can Only Pick One

Pick film if chips bother you most, or the vehicle is new and spends its life on the highway. Pick a coating if you want deep gloss and a vehicle that is easy to keep clean through winter. See ceramic coating, paint protection film and paint correction, which comes before either.
